This attractive center-shafted driver has a lead "button" backweight and no horn on the sole, both of which are by design. The head shows a relatively small amount of use. There is a small hairline crack on the front and back of the hosel, but it's of no major consequence.  The original shaft is not hickory.  It is an unusual wood (in the world of golf clubs) and has a tight grain that can be followed from the bottom all the way to the top of the 45" shaft.

The centershaft design was constructed with the thought that putting the axis of the shaft directly behind the ball would result in less twisting of the clubhead at impact and greater force at impact, and therefore increase the accuracy and distance of the golfer's drive. It didn't work...

A very unusual and rare specimen of an early 20th century center-shafted driver, of which there are very few to be found!
