Beer stein, 1/2 Liter, measures approximately 9" tall to the top of it's intricate pewter lid.  The decorative golf design that encompasses the entire body of this stein is etched in place and then colored. The lid hinge works flawlessly. 

This stein was made by a Hohr-Grenzhausen Factory located in the Westerwald region of Germany near Kolblenz.  This area has a large concentration of ceramic manufacturers. In their book, "Decorative Golf Collectibles" by Shirley and Jerry Sprung, they used an image of a nearly identical Hohr-Grenzhausen stein on the front cover.  Inside the book they estimated the value of this stein at $3000 - $4000.  While prices might not be as strong today as they once were for ceramics, the best and rarest items are still the best and rarest items. And this is one handsome stein!
