Produced in 1911 by JP Cochrane, this (star) Challenger golf ball has stars inside stars across the entire surface. The ball remains in its original paint with light wear.

Paint has been chipped off a significant portion of the cover.  The yellow material now visible where the paint once was is white gutta percha or a white gutta percha compound.  Covers made from white gutta percha are typically reddish brown to various hues of yellow when found today. They are not and never were pure white. Star Challengers were made for a few years and from both typical dark brown gutta percha as well as white gutta percha.
