Despite missing a big piece of its cove, this ball still has merit.  Not only is it and its unqque pattern extremely rare, it displays well!  The ball can be oriented so the missing piece is not visible, or it can be positioned so the inside of its wound rubber core and gutta percha cover are on full display.  To the auctioneer, both views are interesting and have value for completely different reasons.
