With its original 37 1/2" steel shaft with Golf Pride Informer rubber grip, this club was designed for shuffleboard-style use, where the club is not swung. Instead, the golfer lines the club up behind the ball, pulls the club back, and then pushes the club into the ball.  To facilitate a smooth "stroke" on grass, this club includes a roller on the sole.  There were a few other mid 20th century shuffleboard style putters made, but they did not include a roller in the sole like this one. None of them were popular because they were all against the rules even when they were made.
