This is an original pen & ink with colored pencil drawing. And it's large. As framed this item is 21 inches wide x 27 inches tall.  The artwork itself measures roughly 12 x 20 inches at its widest points inside the oval mat. The image clearly fits the period of Charles Gibson's famous pen-and-ink "Gibson Girl" Illustrations of the late 19th and early 20th century.

The attractive lady golfer has nice facial features and is stylishly dressed. Her ball is positioned on a sand tee, and her caddie in the background looks on.  The lady is wearing a redish/orange jacket with reddish orange trim areas low on her full-length skirt.  There is a very light redish/orange background outside of the thick black oval that surrounds this lady.  This same color is also used to tint the caddie's jacket. 

This work of art is signed "J.A. Dowling '06". The auctioneer had no luck uncovering any information about the artist. But one thing is clear, Dowling was exceptionally good! This is a truly wonderful image on many levels. It is not often that an original, beautiful work of golf art over 110 years old becomes available.
