This Ping Scottsdale B66 Balnamic putter was produced in the early 1960s by Karsten Solheim and his son John in what is now Paradise Valley, AZ.  It was built in the garage of Karsten's home, part of which included John's bedroom. (The prior owner built this room, complete with a window facing the inside of the garage, to use in dog grooming business). When Karsten would go to work the home's prior owners had a room that included a large window to the inside of the garage built inside the garage.  After John had finished his high school homework and gone to bed, Karsten would often come into the garage, knock on John's window, and together they would work making putters on into the night.  For more info on the Scottsdale garage, see And The Putter Went Ping page 56.

This B66 shows the residue of a gold coating of some type on its topline and flange. It is believed this thin metalic coating was installed by Slazenger, an early distributor of Ping putters in Canada.   This club still has its 35" original shaft, Golf Pride Grip Rite grip, and grip collar.
