Made by Robert Condie and marked with his rose cleekmark, this smooth face mashie was imported into the US and sold by Slazenger and Son, New York. There is a slight crack to the base of the 36 1/4" shaft, where it extends up out of the hosel. This area once had whipping on it as it is lighter in color than the rest of the shaft above. The crack is not noticable unless you go looking for it, and appears reasonably tight.

The grip is actually two grips, the top three-fourths of the grip is a worn sewn Bussey grip, with the seam facing up which is the opposite of how they were installed on bussey clubs.  The bottom fourth is sheepskin. The hosel shows no sign of being reshafted. Golflers would sometimes just do whatever they needed to do to modify and keep an old favorite in the game. Maybe that is the story with this club, however they did it!
