In 1892, John Duncan Dunn and his brother Gourlay opened a clubmaking business at the Prince's Golf Club in Mitcham, near London. The brothers left Mitcham in 1894 to join their father Tom in his nearby business. They were all descendants of Willie Dunn Sr, one of the mid 19th century's great golf personalities.

Made during two short years at Mitcham, the driver offered here is marked "Dunn Bros."  It is an honest to goodness bulger driver as its face is curved, bulging outward, from heel to toe.  The head shows little use and is a picture perfect example of a bulger, the revolutionary club design introduced just a few years earlier by Henry Lamb.  The 42 3/4" shaft is original as is the sheepskin grip.  The grip however, has come loose at the top and has broken apart. It is now actually in two pieces. Its upper length is entirely loose and fragile.  It can be restored with the right kind of adhesive, but that would need to be done sooner v. later.

The head is in superb original condition.
