Produced in 1911 by JP Cochrane, this Challenger 26 1/2 has stars inside stars across the surface of the ball. Cochrane also produced Challenger 26 1/2 balls with the more popular bramble pattern, an example of which is also in this auction. The Challenger 26 1/2 ball were advertised as "a fine ball against the wind ... a smaller ball than standard and heavier." (See McGimpsey p 77).
The Challenger 26 1/2 stars inside stars rubber-core ball offered here shows little to no use.
