This is the nicest Skoopum the auctioneer has ever seen—it shows no use. The back of the c. 1930 head is stamped "Stainless, Skoopum, Pat. Apl For, J.M. Clark Inc, Newark, NJ". The face is dramatically concave, and was, no doubt, inspired by the Hagen concave sand iron. Both clubs fell victim to the USGA in 1931, when the USGA determined that concave faces were non-comforming.
