Both the inside of the lid and the base are hallmarked with what appears to be a Birmingham, England, hallmark that dates to 1922. The individual location mark is worn to indistinguishable, but the little that remains would fit the Birmingham anchor mark. The sterling silver lion mark and "X" date mark are clear both in the lid and on the base.
The base measures just under 4" square and the height is approximately 3 1/2 inches. The piece weights approximately 13 ounces. On top of the inkwell is a golfer putting to what is the hole on an ornately designed "green". A wonderful piece.
