According to Walter Hagen's 1937 Catalog, his Crown irons were one of the few sets available with an optional grooved steel shaft for an additional $1 per club, a sizable amount back in the depression. The left-handed set offered here is a #2 through the #9, which is the matching putter. The clubs show little use and the shafts, with their "spiral cuts" that extend all the way from the base of the grip to the top of the monster 4-inch-long ferrules, sparkle. These irons also have dot punched faces and small circular mother of pearl inserts atop the black plastic grip end caps.
Single examples of this shaft show up from time to rare time, but a full set of irons with this shaft.
