Edited by W. Dalrymple, this 1896 Golfer's Guide for the United Kingdom includes a number of photographic illustrations and map—including a giant map that unfolds from the back of the book and shows all of Scotland and marks its golf greens. Inside the front and back of the book is a wide variety of ads.  The exterior of the back cover itself is an advertisement.  The front red cloth cover is gilt stamped and the edges of all the pages are stained red, which is original. This scarce volume, the third in an annually published series, is full of information on golf and nice descriptions of golf clubs, courses, and personalities, along with some golf poetry.

There is fading to the spine, and the giant folding map in the back has a tear thar runs horlzontal along the top crease approximately half way across the map. There are also a few small tears in the crease that runs across the middle of the map.  To see the tears, just zoom in on the last image.  All of the map, however, is there.  Despite the fact that it shows evidence of its 124 years in existence, this is some book!
