The spindly 7 1/2 inch-long hosel on William Oke's putter allowed for more weight to be put into the blade.  Yet Oke's putter head still weighed the same when compared to a typical blade putter of the era—or so says his 1921 British patent that covered this club.  His patent also notes that moving the top of the hosel further away from the blade helps prevent the player from being distracted when lining up a putt, as does the fact that the shaft in his putter does not have any "swell" where it connects to the head. The shaft just tapers straight down and into the hosel.

The head shaft and grip are in wonderful original condition.  TCA2 Vol 1, p 212-213
