A letter dated June 10, 1959 in PING archives includes a request for a 3A putter.  It is not known if Karsten was selling 3A's by then or if he had simply told someone that a new putter, the 3A, would be forthcoming.  The  Ping Redwood City sales orders that remain from 1959 consist of three orders for the 3A, 427 orders for the 1A, 22 for the 2A, none for the 4A, and 1 each for the A5 and B5. No sales orders from 1960 remain, but its clear that, in 1960, the sales of the other Redwood City models never caught up to those for the 1A. So while the Redwood City 3A was not as popular as the iconic 1A, it is much more rare. ATPWP p 46-47

The Redwood City 3A offered here is in outstanding original condition. The original green Line-Rite grip, complete with the original green grip collar, shows little use.
