Presented in an elegant 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" think mahogany frame designed to stand on a desk or shelf, this "USGA Champion" badge was presented to Gene Sarazen by the USGA sometime after he retired from competitive golf.  As the auctioneer understands it, while wearing this badge, Gene had full access to the clubhouse and grounds of any USGA event he chose to attend.

This metal badge comes with a 2003 authentication letter from Mark Emerson, whose knowledge of player signatures and golf artifacts was beyond reproach. Emerson was brought in to help the Sarazen estate dispose of a number of Gene's things.

This wonderful item is consigned by a life-long member of the golf press who assembled a fabulous collection of signed golf artifacts during his career. This item is guaranteed authentic.
