According to Fred Fry's inventory listing, this putter was "home made" by Dr. H.G. Wetherill of Monterey, CA, and used by him for many years. in 1935, only when he could no longer play, Dr. Wetherill gave the putter to Fry for his collection. Fry records that "this head was a factory made block type putter & [the] Dr. filed off the heel & inserted the shaft into the center of the head." It also appears that the Dr. installed the face insert.
Fry stamped his name on the sole and "Dr. H.G. Wetherill" on the crown. The shaft/grip bear Fry's two inventory labels. A copy of Fry's notebook page about this putter will be provided to the winning bidder.
