Produced by Alexander Kirkwood & Son of Edinburgh, this medallion is an impressive work of art. In 1981 every British Open contestant was given one of these as a memento of their experience. This particular medallion was not given at the British Open as the back of it has been left unengraved.
This medallion is 4 inches in diameter and quite thick. It weighs approximately 17 ounces, so it is surprisingly heavy. As mentioned, the back is blank, so it can still be engraved and used as an award or gift. The blue leather case is beautifully made and has its own stand built in the back, to display the medal with great ease. Condition is like new.
