This large and dramatically concave face niblick was produced by William Gibson of Kinghorn, Scotland, for just a brief period. It followed on the heels of the Walter Hagen concave face Sand Wedge patented in 1929 by Edwin MacClain.
The example offered here has its original 35" shaft and leather wrap grip. Unlike the broad sole on the Hagen Sand iron, the broad sole on the Skoogie has very little bounce and appears almost flat. Gibson's Skoogie is a great companion piece to Hagen's Sand Wedge.
