Both of the gold-colored tees are made from metal, as are the chains and respective attached ball and flag. Metal tees could be hard on woods, causing damage to the face. So the purpose of the spring near the top of the heads of the gold tees was to allow the metal head to give when the club struck the ball. The purpose of the ball and chain, as if I need to tell anyone, was to keep Mr. Tee around and easy to find after impact. The golf ball charm is engraved "RFH."
The three wood tees are mounted to long springs and are three varying lengths. They are labeled "Opto" and are numbered 1-3 along the side of the tees. The tees measure 1 = 3 9/16", 2 = 4 9/16", and 3 = 5 5/16" and there's still plenty of "spring" left in the springs!
These 5 tees are shown at the bottom right of the group image.
