Stamped "Ben Hogan" on the crown and "MacGregor Tourney" on a sweepback soleplate, Hogan "pro models' as these clubs came to be called, were never offered in a retail catalog. They were available only by special order. The drivers had a deeper face and stylish head shape that was exceptionally desirable to better players.
Offered here is a MacGregor persimmon Ben Hogan pro model driver and 2 wood, heads only. Both of these clubs were once shafted but the shafts have long been removed. The clubheads remain in outstanding original condition that show next to no use. The driver does have a short hairline crack that begins at the heel-side rear corner of the soleplate and extends a short distance up the back of the head, as can be seen in the second from last image.
The consignor, who is not a golfer,
inherited these clubheads from his father who worked at MacGregor during the
1950s and 60s.
