This c. 1875 lofter has a nicely dished face and a 5" hosel with sharp sawtooth nicking. The 37 1/2" shaft is original as is the sheepskin grip. Actually, the sheepskin grip appears to be original to the club. There are 2 nail holes below the grip that are visible. The club has either undergone at least one regrip when it was in use or the grip has simply been shortened a few times. The fact that both nail holes have the remains of the original nail possibly indicates that the original nails broke off at some point. The grip came loose and was then shortened a bit in order to install a third nail at a right angle to the grain.
Long story short, this outstanding lofter looks great! It is great! And it remains today exactly as it was when it was used back in the day.
The ball in the images is shown for perspective and is not part of this lot.
