Designed to offer the golfer an iron that had the feel of a wood, the Cran cleek was produced under an 1897 US Design Patent issued to James Cran. It was the 10th US patent issued for a golf club. This Cran cleek, however, was one of the first produced, made before the patent was issued.  The back of the head is not marked with the traditional patent date, like most are, but instead is stamped "The Spalding Cran, Patent Applied For."

The shaft measures 37 3/4" long with its original sueded leather grip. The wood insert, held in by two screws on the back of the head, is original and solid.

This club is in wonderful original condition!
