Three Vintage Metal Caddy Badges:
1) Scalloped Round badge from Medinah Country Club, '41
2) Circular badge from Ridge Country Club, 1941
3) Oval Scalloped badge from Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club.
Caddie badges are tough to collect. Hence they are flying somewhat under the radar as a collectible. To the auctioneer, however, they offer a great deal of history and intrinsic value. As in the case of the Medinah caddy badge, sometimes the badge attaches to a world famous golf club. In other cases, as is the case with Ridge Country Club which was formed in 1902, the venue has a rich but not widely known history. And in yet other instances, as in the case of Rock Island Arsenel Golf club, which literally sat on an island in the middle of the Mississippi River between Iowa and Illinois, the club that issued the caddy badge no longer exists. Hence this badge is one of the few remaining actual artifacts from that club.
