The graduated tiers of linked chains on the surface of this ball was obviously tied to The Link's advertisement as "the non-skid ball." Promoted as made in 1913 The Helsby Co (British Insulated & Helsby Cables, Ltd), said company amalgamated with The Telegraph Manufacturing Company a decade prior. This ball was also advertised as being made from the finest Para rubber, with a "cover unequaled for wear."
This Link ball has been used, with two light strike marks and its paint worn off. Even so, this ball was not used much. the unique chain-link pattern still present and accounted for. The ball looks great and strikes a wonderful pose.
This ball is front row right in the group image that accompanies this lot.
