"Use the Always Ready Disappearing Golf Ball Sand Tee For Uniform Driving," says J.S. Doe & Sons of Burnham, Illinois, in a 1921 golf magazine advertisment. Eliminating the need to find sand wet enough to then form into a tee mold, these sand tees came dry, clean, and standardized in height. There are 18 sand tees still in their original box.
