Made in 1950 according to Irv Valenta in The Singular History of the Golf Tee, The "Par Buster" Tee,  by S. J. Rogers Co. out of Girard, Ohio, boasted of being "scientifically designed" to help correct common errors made on the golf course.

According to the accompanying instruction sheet, the unique shape is actually "a pattern that the golfer can use for alignment...The 2 short points will align the stance--the 2 long points will align the drive." As the player focuses on passing their club head directly over the two long points, it will also "unconsciously keep his eyes on the ball therefore, keeping the head down until after the ball has been hit."
