Born in Carnoustie, Scotland, MacDonald "Mac" Smith" was one of the top professional golfers in the world from about 1910 into the mid-1930s. He won 25 PGA Tour events, including three Western Opens when it was considered a major championship. He never won a modern major but did, however, place in the top ten of a modern major 17 times, including as the runner up in one US Open and two British Opens. He played only 1 Masters and zero PGA championships, although he was inducted into the PGA Hall of Fame in 1954.
Long story short, Mac was a brilliant golfer. Back in the day, a duplicate set of his clubs would have been quite desirable, and the irons in this set are such—exact copies in outstanding original condition.
