This is an unmarked one-piece driver, with head and 43" shaft made from a singular piece of wood. What makes it quite special to the auctioneer is that the head is a transitional, and likely predates the BGI, MacGregor, etc. one-piece clubs they made, all with compact bulger-type heads.
The face on this club has suffered major damage as can be seen in the images. Even so, the club is one of the oldest remaining one-piece clubs and the damage stands as a witness that somebody loved using this club a lot! Battle scars are not all bad. They also tell a story of passion (or says the guy who gets beaten like a rented mule ever time he forgets his wife's birthday... ;)
