Hugh Philp / Robert Forgan putter.  The crown of this club is stamped "H Philp" on one line and "R Forgan" directly below it.  The 37" shaft is stamped "R. Forgan & Son, St. Andrews" is original and the sueded leather grip is a worthy replacement.

This Philp/Forgan putter was one of a small number made in 1902 by Robert Forgan who included Hugh Philp's name on the head to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his joining Philp to take over and manage his business, which would lead to Jamie Wilson leaving Philp's employ.

Forgan obviously valued his relationship with Philp and wanted to remind the golf world of his clubmaking roots.  Today these "commemorative" putters are few and far between.

The other three items in the accompanying group image are not part of this lot.
