Marked on one pole "FA Cigol Rubber Company, Patterson, N.J.," This ball was not made as a golf ball. The fact that it weighs 2.567 ounces is a clear indicator that it was made as a game ball for kids. Genuine golf balls weigh close to an ounce less. Other examples of this ball are much smaller than even a British ball and weigh as little as 1.22 ounces. In short, it might have been marketed as a golf ball design, but not for play on an actual course.
As this ball goes, however, it is often found in golf ball collections because of its interesting pattern. This particular ball is the nicest example of one of these balls that the auctioneer has seen.
