Talk about crazy club designs, this sand iron is upside down! The sole is a small "knife blade" of a leading edge/sole and a large, broad flange behind the top of the blade. Really. This club is upside down! Gotta love the early clubmaker's desire to try anything, but then to stop it once it was clear it was not gonna work! Hence, the auctioneer has never even heard of another one of these.
The 35" wood shaft and leather wrap grip are old. The head appears to have been shafted by a professional, not Vulcan, as there is some wear to the chrome at the hosel pin, either that or it was neatly reshafted back in the day. The back of the head is stamped "Vulcan, Minchs Pal, Chromium." My bet is this club and Minch were not Pals for very long.....
