Marked "P. McEwan 26 1/2" on each pole, this solid gutty ball was made in the 1890s by Peter McEwan of the famous McEwan clubmaking family. There are a few light strike marks to the Bramble-pattern surface, but the ball remains handsome and eminently collectible.
The McEwan 26 1/2 made by Peter McEwan is listed in McGimpsey's book, The Story of the Golf Ball. A single McEwan 26 1/2 ball that sold back in 1988 is the only example he cites.
