The bottom of this Golf Ball ink well, which is possibly made from pewter or something similar, is marked "JB 3482 Pat Appld For". Each year prior to 1916, British patent numbers would start over, beginning with the number 1. The patent application number would become the patent number. Hence, I believe this inkwell was made in the UK prior to 1916. The diameter of the ball is roughly 2 3/4 inches. The original glass used to hold the ink is included with this lot.
