Talk about a club almost nobody alive today has seen before—this is one! This oversize aluminum head is hollow and has a threaded opening in its neck. A metal sleeve on the end of the hickory shaft is threaded in a corresponding fashion that allows for the shaft to be removed anytime, anyplace.  There are no marks on this club, and the auctioneer has not seen one of these before.

Normally, a clubhead cavity that could open and close had to do with weight adjustment.  On this club, the golfer could certainly pour in something such as sand or lead shot and adjust the weight of the head, except its balance would run the risk of changing from one green to the next.  However, if the sand was used to fill the entire head the weight of the putter would not be so prone to shifting. Its quite possible that the creator of this club wanted it to allow for weight adjustment, but he or she did not think it out very well.  No matter.  It makes for a great collectible today!

There is a metal sleeve at the top of the grip that corresponds to the sleeve that sockets into the head.  The club is in nice original, clean condition. There is clearly a slight depression across the heel portion of the face scoring.  It does not detract from the presentation of this club, especially when there is nothing else like it.
