This early 1920s set of “tiny tad” clubs was likely made as a special order for somebody who wanted their child to learn to play golf at the youngest age possible! When stood up, the bag and clubs come up to the top of the knee of a 6 foot tall adult.

The three woods are marked with the name of “Archie Compston”, the well-known British professional who sold the clubs. The three irons—mid-iron, mashie, and putter—are marked with Compston’s name plus Slazenger “Staynorus Rustless” and “Warranted Hand Forged” cleekmarks, to identify the maker.  All clubs have their original leather wrapped grips.

The clubs in this set measure from 17 ½ inches to 20 ½ inches in length.  All the clubs are in superb original condition and include an attractive, well-made leather and canvas bag.  Playable clubs this small are exceedingly rare, let alone a matching set with matching bag in what appears to be unused condition.  In short, this is by far the finest—and smallest—set of tiny tad clubs the auctioneer has seen. The golf balls shown are for demonstration purposes and are not included in this lot.
