While similar to a typical Gassiat putter, this club is clearly different and far more rare.  Specifically, it differs from the Gassiat in that the head is uniformly thick, so the back and toe are the same thickness as the face.  Both the toe and the back of the head could be effectively used to stroke a ball, especially given that a brass plate covers the entire sole, not just the front half like is typically found on a Gassiat putter, the crown of which slopes down as it works its way from the face to the back.  This is the only "3-face" putter of its type that the auctioneer has seen.

The top of this head is stamped "Special Selected" and "Fortnum & Mason."  The Fortnum & Mason stamp is particularly hard to see, but upon close inspection using a magnifying glass enough of it can be seen to make a positive ID.

Like a Gassiat putter, this club has its original leather-wrapped pistol grip on the end of its original 34" shaft.
