This Royal Doulton Morissian Ware vase is a deliciously ornate piece in fabulous condition. Its art nouveau styling was modeled after the work of the famed British designer William Morris. Few artists left such a wide and indelible mark on the art, culture, and
politics of their era as William Morris did on the second half of the
nineteenth century. Today Morissian golf-themed ceramics are highly desireable. The more unusual and larger pieces can get quite pricey, running into the thousand dollars.
This Morissian vase is one the auctioneer has never seen before. It has a unique and aesthetically pleasing shape. It stands 10 1/4-inches tall and is in outstanding condition: rich colors, no cracks or chips, and minimal (hard-to-locate) to mostly no crazing. When displayed this piece will be noticed—and admired.
