The Life of Tom Morris, with Glimpses of St Andrews and its Golfing Celebrities by W.W. Tulloch; 1st Edition (c.1908). London: T. Werner Laurie, 27 photographic plates, including frontispiece. Original color pictorial green cloth, rear cover and spine with vignette of crossed golf clubs stamped in black, spine lettered in gilt.  Stamp on front endpaper “T…Weekly… Review Copy”. Some foxing on the pages leading up to the table of contents. Little to no foxing after that.  Deckled edges.  A most respectable copy in very good condition.

In The Game of Golf and The Printed Word 1566-2005, Donovan and Jerris write "The Rev. W.W. Tulloch's 'The Life of Tom Morris' was the seminal biography of the esteemed statemen of St. Andrews and a true classic of golf literature."  Additional books about Tom Morris have been published in the past 20 years that add much to what we know about Morris.  Tulloch's book, however, was written when Morris was still alive and Tulloch took advantage of his direct access to Old Tom. Many great Morris stories are told and St. Andrews characters revisited in this classic.

The sand tee molds used to hold the book open are not included with this lot, but are available as a single lot in this auction.
